The outline of the JIS draft in the following table is at the public opinion acceptance stage. They may be changed or corrected depending on the results of deliberation of JIS drafting & deliberation Committee instituted in the Accredited Standards Developing Organization.

| Standard title | Cellular plastics and rubbers-Determination of apparent density |
| Objective |
This standard stipulates the method for measuring density, one of the items used to specify the performance specifications of foamed plastics, which are primarily used as insulation materials. However, with technological advances in measuring equipment and the widespread use of digital, high-precision measuring instruments, the dimensional measurement methods required by JIS K7222 have become uncommon in other testing standards, and therefore revisions are being made. The main revisions are as follows: - Regarding test specimens, the previous standard stated ゛three or more for soft materials and five or more for hard materials,゛ but the number of test specimens will be standardized to three. Other JIS standards that cite this standard (JIS A9521, JISA9511, JISA9526) also specify the number of test specimens as three, making this standard consistent with other testing standards. - Regarding operation, the previous standard stated, ゛Measure the dimensions of the test specimen in millimeters in accordance with JIS K7248,゛ but in consideration of the application in other testing standards, the new standard will simply state, ゛Measure the dimensions of the test specimen to the nearest 0.1 mm.゛ - In the operation section, it was written that ゛each dimension should be measured three separate times,゛ but this expression will be deleted. Also, it was written that ゛length and width should be measured in three or more places, and thickness in five or more places,゛ but it will be changed to ゛for plate-shaped materials, length, width, and thickness should be measured in three or more places.゛ |
