This Division of Section VIII provides requirements applicable to the design, fabrication, inspection, testing, and certification of pressure vessels operating at either internal or external pressures exceeding 15 psig. Specific requirements apply to several classes of material used in pressure vessel construction, and also to fabrication methods such as welding, forging and brazing. It contains mandatory and nonmandatory appendices detailing supplementary design criteria, nondestructive examination and inspection acceptance standards. Rules pertaining to the use of the U, UM and UV ASME Product Certification Marks are also included.

本Division では、15 psig超の内圧又は外圧のいずれかで動作する圧力容器の設計、製作、検査、テスト及び認証に適用する要求事項について規定する。圧力容器構造に使用されるいくつかのクラスの材料に加えて、溶接、鍛造及びろう付けなどの製作方法には特別な要求事項が適用される。本Divisionには、 補足的な設計基準、非破壊試験、検査の合否判定基準について詳述した規定付録及び参考付録を含んでいる。U、UM及びUVの単一ASME認証マークの使用に関するルールも収録。
