| Standard title | Testing methods for rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics - Part 2: Determination of basic physical properties |
| Objective |
This standard specifies physical testing (basic) for rubber-coated and plastic-coated fabrics, and is being revised to enhance the content of the standard in light of recent production and usage trends. The main revisions are as follows: - The terminology and definitions have been adjusted to align with the corresponding international standards, and four definitions have been added to make the three types of tear tests easier to understand. - The tear test (Test Method A) equipment and reagents have been updated to include a moist immersion bath and reagents in accordance with the corresponding international standards. In addition, a provision has been added to the procedure for conducting moist testing in accordance with the corresponding international standards. - The tear test (Test Method B) procedures have been updated to include a provision for conducting moist testing in accordance with the corresponding international standards. - The tear test (Test Method C) equipment and reagents have been updated to include a moist immersion bath and reagents in accordance with the corresponding international standards. In addition, a provision has been added to the procedure for conducting moist testing in accordance with the corresponding international standards. ・For adhesion tests, it was necessary to add a test method that uses the maximum value based on actual domestic usage, so Test Method B was added, and Test Methods A and B were renamed. ・For adhesion tests (Method 1 and Method 2), the width of the test piece was added (30±0.5) mm, as it is not included in Test Method B of JIS K 6405-5:1999, but is included in Ministry of Construction Notification No. 1446 of 2000. ・For adhesion tests (Method 1), the immersion time for preparing the test piece was added to match the corresponding international standard for measuring the adhesive strength of the coating layer in a wet state. ・For calculations of average values for adhesion tests, standard deviation is not calculated in practice by users in Japan, so only the standard deviation was deleted. ・For adhesion tests in peel conditions, a new term was added, as it was moved from the current standard's terms and definitions (3.15 to 3.20) to improve the convenience of the standard. ・For burst test reagents, blotting paper was added to match the corresponding international standard. - Regarding the collection and preparation of test specimens for burst tests, provisions have been added for taking test specimens in the width direction and for product testing, in accordance with the corresponding international standards. |
