Key points of JIS draft

The outline of the JIS draft in the following table is at the public opinion acceptance stage. They may be changed or corrected depending on the results of deliberation of JIS drafting & deliberation Committee instituted in the  Accredited Standards Developing Organization.

Standard title Magnesium alloy die castings
Objective This standard specifies magnesium alloy die-castings, but revisions are being made to enhance the content of the standard in light of recent trends in production and use.
The main revisions are as follows:
- In terms of type and type symbols, new symbols will be established in line with market conditions in Japan, and four new types of magnesium alloy die-castings will be added.
- High heat-resistant, high thermal conductivity, and flame-retardant alloy. For automobile and motorcycle parts.
- High toughness, flame-retardant alloy. For automobile wheels.
- High thermal conductivity, flame-retardant alloy. For automobile heat sink parts.
- High heat-resistant, flame-retardant alloy. For drive system parts such as automobile transmissions.
- In terms of chemical composition, in line with the addition of alloy types, the chemical compositions of new alloy types will be added in line with market conditions in Japan.
- In terms of mechanical properties, in line with the addition of alloy types, the mechanical properties of new alloy types will be added in line with market conditions in Japan.
