| Standard title | Environmental testing - Part 3-1: Supporting documentation and guidance - Cold and dry heat tests |
| Objective |
This standard is a support document for low-temperature (cold resistance) testing and high-temperature (heat resistance) testing, and provides guidelines for conducting the tests. However, it is being revised to enhance the content of the provisions in light of recent production and usage practices. The main revisions are as follows: - Selection of Test Method (Clause 4) - Added information stating that the temperature change on the surface of the test specimen follows an approximately exponential function, and that there is a significant delay in reaching temperature uniformity inside large specimens. - Selection of Test Method (Clause 4) - Added information stating that testing multiple specimens affects uniform inlet airflow. - Selection of Test Method (Clause 4) - Added information stating that cold air has a higher air density than warm air, and therefore warm air has lower thermal conductivity than cold air. - Selection of Test Method (Clause 4) - Added consideration of the possibility that infrared radiation passing through the test chamber window (observation window) may affect the temperature of the specimen, in order to minimize the effects of infrared radiation. - Selection of test method (Clause 4) When testing multiple test specimens simultaneously, additional consideration should be given to the placement of the test specimens to ensure free circulation between the specimens and between the specimens and the test chamber surface. |
