| Standard title | Coil springs-Part 1: Basic calculation methods |
| Objective |
This standard stipulates basic calculation methods for commonly used compression coil springs, tension coil springs, and torsion coil springs made from metallic materials with circular cross sections. However, revisions are being made to enhance the content of the standard in light of the latest production and usage trends. The main revisions are as follows: - Regarding materials, high-strength spring steel SUP14 will be added, as there is market demand. - The spring index for hot-formed springs, previously set at ゛4 to 15,゛ will be changed to ゛3 to 15゛ in line with actual performance. - A note has been added that the formula for calculating the reduction in average coil diameter when a torsion spring is twisted in the winding direction is not an exact solution, and is therefore an approximation. - The definition of springs subjected to static force, ゛less than approximately 1,000 cycles,゛ has been deleted, as the basis for this is unclear. |
