| Standard title | Rockwell hardness test-Verification and calibration of testing machines and indenters |
| Objective |
This standard stipulates the verification and calibration of testing machines and indenters used in Rockwell hardness tests, and revisions are being made to enhance the content of the standard in light of recent production and usage trends. The main revisions are as follows: - Within the applicable scope, cemented carbide balls will be used as the standard ball indenter. - In the calibration of test forces, verification of the initial test force F0 (initial test force after the total test force F has been unloaded) will no longer be included. - In the calibration of indentation depth measuring devices, it was previously stipulated that measurements be made in at least four equal sections across the entire area, but this has been changed to require each section to be measured three times, with a new requirement for the number of measurements. - In the indirect verification of testing machines, scales using steel balls will be abolished and only scales using cemented carbide balls will be used. |
