| Objective |
This standard specifies shot peening， which is performed by applying primarily compressive residual stress to the surface of a spring to improve resistance to fatigue， stress corrosion cracking， delayed fracture， etc. However， revisions are being made to enhance the content of the standard in light of recent production and usage practices. The main revisions are as follows: - JIS Z 2244 cited in Table 1 (Shot types and main properties) of Shot (Clause 5) and in hardness test (JA.3.6) of Quality and Test Methods of Shot (Annex JA) will be replaced with JIS Z 2244-1. - JIS G 5904 cited in particle size distribution test (JA.3.5) of Quality and Test Methods of Shot (Annex JA) will be replaced with JIS G 5903. - In the cited standards， the notes to JIS Z 8401 will be deleted， and the cited standards will be replaced in accordance with the above replacement. |
